Bubble up your milk

Milk is an essential part of the diet of every child. It provides nine key nutrients which play an important role in growth and development during childhood. Milk is a cocktail of nutrients and vitamins like calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin B-12, magnesium and it provides proper nourishment for growing children. Even though milk has countless health benefits getting your child to drink it can prove to be a challenging task.


From time immemorial mothers have tried several recipes to make milk a more enjoyable experience for their young ones. From adding a variety of flavors to making fruit smoothies, milk has seen a number of makeovers.


Since chocolate or fruit shakes are more or less common now and have lost their appeal, mothers are seeking other exciting recipes to incorporate milk in their children’s’ diets.  One such recipe is bubble or ‘boba’ milk. A derivative of the Taiwanese Bubble tea, bubble milk is flavored milk with cooked tapioca pearls in it. The chewy tapioca pears are sweet and add to the overall flavor and texture of the drink.MPD_31

To make bubble milk you’ll need milk, sugar, and tapioca pearls. You can also add fresh fruits or syrups to the mix to give it a little twist. For a delicious glass of bubble milk, cook the tapioca pearls in boiling water till they become transparent and don’t stick together. Once cooked, drain the water and set them aside to cool while you prepare the milk. Add sugar to milk and then blend in your favourite syrup or fruits into the mix. Scoop a spoonful of tapioca pearls into a tall glass and pour the milk on top, serve chilled.


The sweet and chewy tapioca pearls add a unique texture to the milk and are bound to surprise your kids. This recipe is sure to bring to a smile to your child’s face and leave him wanting for more.
